MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's an open standard that allows AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot to perform actions directly in other applications.
Instead of just generating text, an AI with MCP can actually do things: create a course, translate content, edit chapters. Pluvo MCP ensures that your AI tool can work directly in your Pluvo academy, without copying and pasting.
An API is a technical link that developers use to connect systems. MCP is an open standard developed specifically for AI tools, allowing them to perform actions independently without the need for programming.
With an API, you have to write code for something to happen.
MCP is made for AI: it translates your question into the right action in Pluvo in plain language. So an API is the link between two systems, MCP is the link between your AI tool and Pluvo.
With the built-in AI of an LMS, you work within one system and choose from predetermined functions. With MCP, you use your own AI tool, with your own prompts and context, to work in that same LMS.
Example: Pluvo's own AI generates a teaching module directly from a prompt, ideal for those who want to get started quickly. With Pluvo MCP, you can connect your own ChatGPT or Claude account, so that your AI tool has access to your own documents, tone of voice, and conversation history, and you can keep prompting. Both work in Pluvo, but provide different types of control and flexibility.
With Pluvo MCP, your AI tool can independently build courses, create chapters, translate content, generate questions, and modify structures in your Pluvo academy.
In concrete terms, this means that from a conversation with ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, you can say: “create a five-chapter onboarding course based on this employee handbook”. Your AI tool will then build the course directly in Pluvo, ready for publication or editing. No more cutting and pasting between different systems.
ChatGPT, Claude (Anthropic), Microsoft Copilot, and Le Chat (Mistral) can be linked to Pluvo via MCP. The MCP protocol is being adopted more and more widely, so the list is constantly growing.
Pluvo is the first Dutch LMS with MCP integration. We launched our MCP connection in May 2026, putting Pluvo at the forefront of the combination of e-learning and modern AI.
Other LMS vendors mainly work with built-in AI functions or separate plugins. With MCP, Pluvo gives users direct access to their own AI tools within the learning platform, without being dependent on what the LMS supplier has built in.
Linking an AI tool to an LMS is safe when working with good authentication and data is not shared without permission. Pluvo MCP uses your own AI license, which keeps your business data under your control.Pluvo is ISO 27001 certified and hosts data in European AWS data centers (Frankfurt and Dublin).
